Repost from THEMOMEDIT
Article by Julieta
She was happy perusing through the store, my 81-year-old grandma, grabbing things and asking me if I thought they’d look good on her. Another key question was “how much is it on sale, Mija?” (Mija is one way grandparents call their grandkids in Spanish).
If you follow me on IG, (@julietatorresd), you know mi Abuelita is visiting NY for the very first time in her life. She is my grandmother and the person that taught me to sew when I was very little. She loves shopping and it was one of the first things she wanted to do here. And guess what? It’s August, so brands are having their end-of-season sales. My family couldn’t have come at a better time.
Do you remember when I told you about an amazing brand for Petites earlier this season? Well, Petite Studio NYC is having their end-of-season sale, and all of their Spring and Summer pieces are up to 70% off. The day I was getting ready for this photoshoot, my mom and grandma helped me – from watching my kids, to ironing, to even approving my outfits. They fell in love with a lot of things and while the quick shopping trip I mentioned was not to Petite Studio, she already asked me to bring her there. So in the next couple of days, I’ll bring my petite mom and grandma to the studio in NYC. I’ll keep you posted on that.
For now, here are some of the great pieces on sale to help you finish summer and start fall in style!
Important note: things sell really fast, especially in popular sizes. Make use of the free shipping/return and get those things you love.
Petite Studio NYC: End-Of-Season Sale Finds
Dresses You Don’t Have To Hem
I’m only showing two, but all of their dresses are gorgeous. Check this other post to see my most worn dresses this summer (also on sale).
Kate Dress in Night Sky – Wearing XS. I had a hard time picking the color, but then settled on this one because goes better with my skin and features. I love that it has a side zipper so you don’t have to deal with all those buttons to put it on and off. But do please unbutton a few up your leg, it’s great for both elongating more your figure and to also show a little bit of leg. One of my buttons was pulling a little on my waist so I just did a small stitch keeping it in place. Want a lighter color? This Sage is gorgeous!
A Real Mini Dress
Mini dresses are never mini dresses when you’re 5’2″, am I right? Well, this one is and even though I tend to feel over conscious about short dresses, I have to accept they are better when you’re short.
Anisa Dress – Wearing XS. The fabric has the perfect stretch. I love that it’s slim not tight, and lets you move and be comfortable. I loved pairing it with red shoes for a pop of color. The pearl buttons are a great detail… and those sleeves? I got so many compliments.
These White Pants With 3 Amazing Tops
If there’s one thing I’m OBSESSED with from Petite Studio is the pants. Pants made for taller people don’t fit the best way even after hemming them. All of the pants I’ve tried from them are a dream. Perfect length, leg fit, rise. I don’t know if I’ll ever buy trousers from another place. I’m VERY happy with these. I just need them in more colors.
Look 1: Comfy and Put-Together
Clover Top – Wearing XS. This is a great piece to have. The fit is slim, not tight but the smocked back allows you to move freely. Wear with jeans and a blazer on top and booties later. Also in a pretty green gingham
Shoes – Run big but they are the most comfortable, cushioned and soft shoes I have. I wear them at least twice a week.
Look 2: Professional Comfy
These pants look as good as with a casual top ad they do with a more formal blouse making them a great option for work and fun. I paired them with this GORGEOUS top (only thing not on sale) but totally worth it. Break the solid colors with animal print flats and finish with a pretty bag.
Buvette Pearl Blouse – Wearing XS, fit is relaxed and I might exchange for a smaller size. Now, tell me if this blouse is not unique, this is the story of how a simple pearl detail takes a closet basic to another level. Better yet? Comes in a lot of colors, red, ivory, navy and light blue.
Leopard Shoes – These loafers can be flat but they make everything more stylish and professional. See how I wore them in a casual outfit here.
Look 3: Fun and Sexy
Doris Top – Wearing S. Not only this is my mom’s name but the print of this top is gorgeous. I sized up so it wasn’t too short, the smocking allows you to go up and still look good. Also all in white.
Nude Heels – Got them during the Anni Sale and they are my go-to whenever I want a little extra height.
The Skirt That You Can Wear Into Winter
When I was going through their site, I wanted to make sure to pick a few things that could work later in the fall. This skirt is one of them. Just change the top for a lightweight sweater and boots. Leather jacket on top? Hmm, already dreaming of an amazing fall outfit.
Ella Skirt – Wearing XS. It’s super fun and feminine. Has a very interesting game of seams and hems.
Fuji Top – Wearing XS. I’ve been wearing this top for everything and with everything since May. With trousers, wide-leg pants, jeans, and now skirts. I get compliments on it everywhere I go. It’s definitely a one of a kind piece. Find it in a beautiful steel grey too.
