Welcome to the Petite Studio Fit Report. Where we have two trendy ladies at two different heights style our pieces and show you the many different ways our brand can be suited to your style and size.

Petite Studio’s mantra has always been to create stylish, fashion-forward pieces made with the petite woman in mind. However, when you’re small, every inch can count and fits can look and feel quite different on someone who is 5’0 than someone who is 5’5.

We gave Alyssa Coscarelli (5’1) and Meijun Li (5’5) three pieces from the collection and asked them to style and incorporate them with pieces from their own wardrobe.

Celina Dress in Mustard

We know that the midi dresses can be daunting for short statures, but what’s so great about being a brand made for petites is that the cut and fit is tailored for shorter hemlines. The Celina Dress is the midi dress that actually hits mid shin without heading to the tailors. Never thought that’d possible be right?

Alyssa: Spring Casual

Alyssa’s pared down rendition of the Celina Dress makes us ready for warmer weather and picnics in central park. While her white sneakers don’t add any height, it really shows off the silhouette’s tailoring for a shorter frame.

“It can be difficult to find spring dresses that don't drown me or aren't entirely too long. I love this midi-length floral dress because it can easily be dressed up or down. I can wear it casually for a weekend brunch with a pair of sneakers like I did here, but also still dress it up with heels and some fancier accessories for a wedding or event. And, the fabric is super soft and comfortable. This dress hits in all the right places.”

Mei: Daring and Stylish

The black waist corset that Mei paired with the flowy dress really shows off her personal style and shows how you can make a piece unique. It’s an unexpected pairing, but it turns this outfit into an even more trendy street style look.

“Most would think this dress couldn't be all that versatile because of the bold color and style, but that’s what made styling this so fun. It’s a pretty statement dress, but it also can be dressed up or down so easily. The flowy fit makes it comfortable, but it fits in all the right places to make it look more tailored.”

Clementine Buckle Top

Our bright, cropped, flowy top is soft and bold. You might think at first glance that it can only be worn one way; sleeveless paired with some skinny pants. However, Alyssa and Mei do a great job of showing that flowy statement pieces can look tailored for someone of a petite stature and not swallowing you whole.

Alyssa: Layered and Tailored

Showing off its versatility, Alyssa layered her top over a white, silk button down and paired it with black tailored pants. And if her outfit didn’t already have enough character for you, she also added some pointed zebra print shoes.

“Now while it can still be a bit chilly, I like to layer it over a blouse or knit, as shown here. Then, as soon as it warms up, I'll wear it by itself, too. It's a flattering shape and the straps are adjustable, so you can tweak them to your liking.”

Mei: Flowy Yet Chic

For most of us petites, we try to shy away from loose fitting items in fear of looking like a sack of potatoes. We love that Mei paired her Clementine Buckle Top with cropped, wide-leg pants and looks super chic and not at all like she’s playing dress up in her mom’s clothes.

“I really love the buckle detailing on this top. It adds interest and I don’t have any other tops this shade of orange which is surprisingly easy to wear because of its shade.”

Francine Knit Top in Black and in White

Our soft knit looks and feels luxurious. The one off the shoulder silhouette turns any outfit into looking sophisticated, classic and put together. It can be paired with all sorts of different pieces, and Alyssa and Mei do a great job of making it their own.

Alyssa: Soft and Pretty

Paired with a double-slit, midi skirt Alyssa’s White Francine Knit Top elevates this look into a night-time outfit.

“This is the perfect spring top because it shows a little bit of skin but still has sleeves, so it's an ideal transitional item. The lengths of the bodice and sleeves fit perfectly, and it tucks smoothly into a skirt like I styled it here.

Mei: Smart and Trendy

Shown in the Black Francine Knit Top, Mei paired it with a Petite Studio original—the Chelsea Wide Leg Pants. This black and white combo is a classic statement, but the off the shoulder look on one side of the top keeps it modern.

“This top makes whatever I’m wearing look elegant and the soft fabric makes it comfortable to wear all day. I really appreciate the one shoulder detailing too. It’s different and I don’t have anything else like it.”

And that’s our fit report! Let us know if you’d like to see more fitting reports in the future. We had a great time developing it and we love sharing other petite’s thoughts on how are clothes fit. Is it just us, or are those photos making you want to snag all three piecesor maybe the whole spring/summer collection.
